A seat in the boat for everyone

BCR’s vision is to build a community of lifelong rowers by developing skill-based rowing programs for all levels of ability. Within this framework, BCR aims to foster physical, emotional and social wellness, teamwork, and excellence. Our goal is to have a seat in the boat for anyone who wishes to row.

Values

Our Purpose in Action

Brockport Community Rowing exists to strengthen individuals, steward our waterways, and build a thriving rowing community for generations to come. These guiding purposes shape everything we do.

To encourage and support a healthy lifestyle through participation in rowing.

To organize and support programs focused on participation, improvement, retention, and performance in rowing, and to create opportunities for competition.

To help to foster sustainable redevelopment of the Erie Canal Waterfront into a water-oriented tourist destination.

To seek charitable contributions from public and private sources to carry out the mission, these purposes, support BCR, and the community.

BCR is formed exclusively for the purpose of conducting activities which are those of an organization described in Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as may be amended from time to time, and regulations thereunder; and the BCR shall not carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on by an organization exempt from federal income taxation under Section 501(c)3 of the Code.

To foster physical fitness and social skills including but not limited to respect, cooperation, collaboration, self-discipline, humility, and confidence.

To offer opportunities to row and learn the fundamentals of rowing technique, etiquette, teamwork, safety, and sportsmanship by providing coaching and equipment to members and the general public.

To foster and sustain the appreciation and stewardship of our rowing water resources and to specifically advocate for the protection of the environmental and recreational integrity of the Erie Canal so that succeeding generations of rowers may be able to continue to safely experience the exhilaration and joy of rowing.

To foster partnerships with other groups and other rowing clubs to further pursue these objectives.

To be active in the community, not only to contribute as a viable part of that community but also to participate in community outreach through programs designed to reach a diverse spectrum of the public.

Impact

Rowing’s Ripple Effect in Brockport

Brockport Community Rowing is bringing the sport of rowing to Brockport with the goal of making it accessible to as many people as possible.

We are committed to offering a wide range of programs so more individuals can learn to row, participate, and expand their experience on the water. Even those who do not row can enjoy the sport, viewing practices and competitions from the Bicentennial Bridge and along the canal path.

Rowing strengthens our community in ways that extend well beyond the water. It contributes by:
