On June 7, McQuaid rowers started their Row for Hope in Buffalo and arrived in Brockport an hour and a half early. Their 60-mile day started their fundraising row of the entire length of the Erie Canal. This year, Rochester’s House of Mercy will be the recipient of the funds raised.
Brockport Community Rowing (BCR) welcomed the rowers with pizza, lemonade, cider and special cookies, all courtesy of Wegmans. Then their boat and oars were housed in the boathouse overnight while the rowers and their support team camped at the Welcome Cen
ter. The following morning, they started out again on their journey.
It was exciting for BCR to welcome them to Brockport and to be able to share the dock and boathouse with them. The rowers were a great group of young men. Donations were given. Deputy Mayor Roberts also gave them Village of Brockport pins.
